Pathogenesis and Pathophysiology of Dengue Fever
Pathogenesis of dengue fever is not fully understood, but there are two striking changes patofisiologis, namely: The increased capillary permeability resulting in plasma leakage, hypovolemia and shock. On dengue fever is a unique event that leakage of plasma into the pleural cavity and peritoneal cavity. Plasma leakage occurred a short (24-48 hours). Abnormal hemostasis caused by vaskulopati, thrombocytopenia and coagulopathy, precedes the occurrence of bleeding manifestations. Activation of the complement system is always found in patients with dengue fever. C3 and C5 levels low, whereas C3a and C5a increase. Mechanism of complement activation is not known.
