Based on the classification of endemimisitas in South Sulawesi is the number of malaria endemisitas District Selayar, Mamuju, Polewali, Mamasa, Majene, North Luwu, and Tana Toraja. While the district is classified Mesoendemis Selayar District and Mamuju.

Reports of malaria cases in the District of South Sulawesi Province Selayar, for 150 inpatient and outpatient cases in 1200 cases in 2005 while in 2006 an increase of malaria cases to 185 cases, while a decline in outpatient cases: 1126 cases in 2007, the number of cases of clinical malaria as many as 3500 cases and subdistricts in District Selayar largest number of cases is as much Bontosikuyu District 443 cases with a population of 6249 people, while the number of Clinical Annual Malaria Incidence (AMI) is very high at 70.89 (MOH Kab. Selayar, 2007).
